  2. Going on twenty years Jonathan has compiled quite an extensive Film and Television Producing and Casting resume. Having been the Casting Director for the NBC smash hit “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit for 14 seasons (300+ episodes and counting) and in an unprecedented capacity as Co-Producer for the past 6 seasons, his casting has resulted in a remarkable 6 consecutive Emmy wins for Acting. He has presided over a total of 19 Actor Emmy nominations and spearheaded 11 Emmy Nominations for “Guest Appearances by an Actor” to date. This Spring season has also seen Jonathan spearheading Dick Wolf’s newest 1hr sensation “Chicago Justice” the spin-out of sister series “Chicago Fire”, “Chicago PD” and “Chicago Med” now in their Fifth, Fourth & Second seasons respectively which Jonathan Co-Produces and Casts as well for NBC/Universal. Jonathan has worked on projects including Wayne Wang’s “Maid in Manhattan (w/ Jennifer Lopez, Ralph Fiennes) and the hit NBC series “Ed”, for which he garnered an Emmy Nomination for “Outstanding Casting of a Comedy Series. Most recently he cast the features “Paranormal Activity: Marked Ones”, “See You in September” (Justin Kirk, Estella Warren, Whoopi Goldberg), “Stateside” (Rachael Leigh Cook, Val Kilmer), the New York Casting for “O.T. Beach” (Paramount Pictures), “Prayers for Bobby” starring Sigourney Weaver and “Because of Winn-Dixie” (Jeff Daniels, Cicely Tyson & Eva Marie Saint). Over the years Strauss has collaborated on dozens of projects with various Casting Directors some of which include, MGM’s “Wicker Park” (Josh Hartnett), Ed Harris' directorial debut Pollock (Ed Harris, Marcia Gay Harden); Gavin O'Connor's Sundance favorite Tumbleweeds (starring Janet McTeer, winner of the Best Actress Golden Globe for her performance); Luc Besson's Joan of Arc (Milla Jovovich, Dustin Hoffman); and John Turturro’s Illuminata (Turturro, Christopher Walken, Susan Sarandon). In 2009 Hollywood Reporter & Backstage Newspaper placed him as one of the “Top 25 Power Casting Directors in Film and Television” and in 2004 Ross Reports named Jonathan one of Televisions Top 20 Casting Directors. Jonathan currently resides in New York City and is a Member of the “Producer’s Guild of America”, “Casting Society of America”, “IFP: Independent Film Project” & “Academy of Television Arts & Sciences”.
